    Sony Ericsson USB Data Cable

anyone have one, and does it also charge the phone ?

i just got send a K770i from a m8 in sweden, no charging plug as its not a uk plug and it would have cost 5x as much to post over.

as i need to unlock it i need a data cable, so to kill 2 birds with one stone will it also charge the phone as i have a usb mains charger for the harmony remote.

Re: Sony Ericsson USB Data Cable

I've got one (or six) you can have but I'll have to check if they charge the phone as well - I'm 75% sure they do though.

Re: Sony Ericsson USB Data Cable

Enter the service menu of the phone by using the following:
    Right, *, Left, Left, *, Left, *
Go into Service Settings and there should be an option that states whether USB charging is enabled or disabled, and if it is present and enabled, then a DCU-60 cable should do the trick (EDIT: With the PC anyway, no idea about with the USB mains charger).

Re: Sony Ericsson USB Data Cable

on the k750i it would only recharge if you'd installed the drivers. If you hadn't you'd still get the charging icon on the phone but it wouldn't actually charge.

Re: Sony Ericsson USB Data Cable

my sony ericsson (different model) does charge, but it's way slower over USB than with a mains plug. Plus for some reason it only gets to 85-90% of full charge over USB. Guess it lacks the oomph (current?) to finish the job. I'd def buy a replacement charger if it was me.

It's the same with most phones. The issue isn't the USB, but that the USB port on a PC can only supply 500ma. One plugged into the wall can supply much more
