My desktop running win 7 hom prem has started slowing down recently. Web browsing is slow, youtube videos stop about half way and the rest of my system is generally sluggish. Only been happening for the past week or 2, but I haven't installed anything extra (aside from normal win updates).
I even had a low memory warning, which I've never had before. I have 4 gig ram and according to the disk defrag analysis, my disk is 0% fragmented.
Avast hasn't picked up any viruses, and I've run malware bytes and spybot (incase something was on my sys I wasn't aware of) and nothing came up.
I also checked resource monitor, and it said that it was caching just over half my ram. All I was running at the time was mediamonkey(which I've always had with no problems), downloading windows live essentials and 1 instance of IE8. I had thought it was IE9 slowing everything down, so I uninstalled it, but still get the same problems.
I have also had the odd problem with an error message saying my display driver has stopped, for my Nvidia GT240. Now I know display driver probs can cause the whole system so slow, so when it happened, I downloaded the latest drivers and installed them. Haven't had the problem reoccur since (with the display driver).
Any ideas?
