USB Driver: Needs new driver for every USB

    Hi,

I have a problem where the USB device needs a new driver for each and every device, but once installed it is ok for that USB. This only occurs on the computer with the problem, not any others.

Should I get a USB PCI Card or is there something deeper?

It is a Dell PC with XP on it, all up to date. No viruses.

Re: USB Driver: Needs new driver for every USB

Had a similar issue on our network, that after the computers being updated and the new image being thrown down on all the machines any USB that was put in required new drivers to be installed, which only one of us could do.

In the end I rolled back the image and when I went to do Windows Update ignored anything to do with the USB drivers, been OK ever since.

It is a driver issue somewhere and I didn't have the patience or time to find out what. You could try going to Dell redownloading the USB drivers or chipset drivers from them and applying them to your system and see if that works. If not, probably format and reinstall of Windows, just install the drivers of Dell and don't do any from within Windows update.
