    Computer wont switch on...

    Hey guys,

i built my desktop around 2 years ago, and up until today, everything has been working fine. i opened it up to install a new hard drive today and once i was done, i plugged in the power cable and usually, the computer will quickly switch on (fans and lights go on) and then off without me doing anything. when i plugged the cable this time, nothing happened. i tried the power button, but still no luck.

first thing i did was check the power cable. my speakers connect to power through an adapter that runs between the psu and the power cable and they switched on, so the cables not the problem. on the mobo, theres also a light, so the psu is supplying atleast some power. i thought maybe im exceeding my psus capacity so i disconnected all my hard drives (the new one and the 2 old ones) and my optical drive, but still no luck. im not sure why i keep thinking that somethings up with the power supply, ive always thought its a decent model; its a seasonic s12 ii 500w and states it should have 80-85% effeciency. it came with a 3 year warranty, so its still covered if i need to swap it out.

anyone have any suggestions? i really need to get this working asap so any help is much appreciated.

    thanks.

Check the power switch if it's properly connected to the MB's front panel header. If it is, try to start it by taking a jumper and shorting the power pins on the front panel header, excluding the front panel power switch. If it doesn't start, disconnect all the cables from of the PSU and take it out, then attempt to start it by looking at this tutorial:
