    PC powered up with USB storage attached

    Is there a workaround for this..

    Basically external usb HD is attached to pc when powering up and it can't find OS drive as it looks at external one instead...

    Have you had a look in the bios and set the boot device priority as your HDD as opposed to a bootable device?.
