    Pagefile - Different from setting

    [SOLVED]

Solution: My drive which I tried placing the Pagefile on was formatted as FAT32 and apparently FAT32 cannot hold more than 4gb (at least for Pagefile anyways)

I reformatted the partition to NTFS and now it is appearing as the full 12000-12000 MB pagefile like it should.

Can someone confirm whether this is normal or not?

I partitioned my second hdd to be 13gb so that I could have a 12gb pagefile allocated to it. This partition is solely for page file and it is at the beginning of the hdd.

I set it to 12000-12000, restarted my pc, then it shows "Currently Allocated: 4080 MB"

Shouldn't it say "Currently Allocated: 12000 MB" ?

Were you sure to hit the Set button, and are you sure there are no other page files set up on other drives?

I know enough to know to hit the set button at least

In fact, I cleared all page file by disabling it on every drive, then I restarted my pc... After my pc rebooted without a pagefile, I set a pagefile only on this drive F: at 12000-12000, I clicked SET of course and then restarted again... After entering the desktop I checked and this is the screenshot I took because I'm pretty sure it should say 12000 instead of 4080.

Ahhhh, blimey I thought everyone was using NTFS. Yeah FAT32 doesn't allow any file to be over 4GB. Doesn't matter what file it is.

Heh yeah I only formatted as FAT32 because I remembered reading before that it's faster, but I didn't realize the 4gb limit...

    Thanks everyone
