computer keeps bsoding after overclocking even on stock settings.
ok, so my computer keeps bsoding after trying to overclock.
it all started once i attempted overclocking to 3.6, 3.8 and 4ghz.
posted the bsods in forums before and they said it was video card bsods. and it was either videocard or power supply. seeing how it happened to two different gpu's i rma'd the psu for a brand new one and it worked perfect no more bsods.
so i figured first psu was a dud so last night i reattempted overclocking, now it started randomly bsoding again with same error. as before which was the gpu one.
my specs are,
i7 860 cpu
msi gd80 motherboard
2x2gb sticks of g.skill eco series ram
1tb os hd
4850 ati gpu
850hx corsair psu
max vcore ever used was 1.34vcore, and 1.3vtt. computer only oc's to 4ghz with 1.25-1.3vtt with hyperthreading off.
any idea what is happening? i dont see how a overclock can do this to a powersupply, specially such a decent psu, but computer ran weeks with the new psu without bsods untill i overclocked last night.
ive unplugged psu for about a hour, and cleared cmos, im running bios at stock settings.

the bsod highlighted was last one i recieved from old psu, new psu was installed next day and you can see no bsods untill the 9th of december which is when i overclocked. the "hall.dll" bsods are just failed overclockers, ones above are the problems im experiencing on stock settings.

Hmm, motherboard power lanes to PCI-E slot? Try taking out the GPU and clearing any dust from the slot, inspect it for any damage (and the card contacts).
Try the other PCI-E slot.
Of course, it could be that you've fried the PCI-E controller on the CPU when overclocking, which is not a risk free process, especially if you play with voltages.

the way my sata connections are on my motherboard they stick up too high so i can only stick long gpus in one slot.
god i hope the cpu pci-e controller isnt messed up since i probably couldnt rma it.
in my head ive been thinking it was the pci-e slot causing the prob, could it still be cpu pci-e controller even though i can play games fine for hours.

just got done talking to intel. there is no pci-e controller on the cpu, its located only on motherboard. and they blamed my ram for being 1.35v and 1600mhz, they said to try 1.5v and 1333mhz, which i dont believe is problem since lots of people use 1.35v eco series ram and 1600mhz.

Have you tried reinstalling windows whilst running it at stock?

yes, a bunch of times, bsod a bunch of times even during two window installations.

Ok, next step is check temps, run memtest on the memory, HDD Diags.

2x 200mm case fans and 2x 120mm's and a thermalright silver arrow on cpu, so its not temps, ran memtest already its not ram and ive done hdd testing.

Your saying it's not temps, but I'd still check them, I've fit heatsinks incorrectly before now and banged my head against the wall when I couldn't figure out what the problem was. It's worth checking mate.
Also how long did you run memtest for?
If you've done all the above it points to to PSU/Mobo/GFX Card
Your PSU can more than easily handle your kit, do you have another PCI-E graphics card you can test with?

Your PSU can more than easily handle your kit, do you have another PCI-E graphics card you can test with?
im saying its not temps because i know them. 27-30c idle/50c @ 100% running linx. 45-50c idle gpu/75c full load.
8 passes on memtest. tried some random gpu from my friend which also had problems but i plan on ordering a gtx 570 in the next week or two. if problem remains ill be rmaing motherboard. my only concern is psu, someone on another forum said the motherboard could be damaging my powersupplys causing this. if thats true i dont know if i need to rma psu and motherboard at same time, would prefer not to if not needed seeing how psu costed $18 to rma alone first time.
is it possible that motherboard is buggy and damaging psu? if not it's probaly most likely the motherboard alone that needs to be rma'd.

You said you have an i7 860? The PCI-E controller is on the CPU.
