    Convert mp4 to AVI

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me the best (preferably free!) bit of software to convert mp4 files to MPEG-4 (AVI / DivX / XviD). I've bought my daughter a Media Player that plays these files but not mp4s and we have a few films in mp4 format that she would like to watch.

    Any suggestions welcome
    Thanks

Been a while since I used it, but it pretty much does everything.

    Good luck

    Re: Convert mp4 to AVI

I've downloaded it and just set it going on a file now. So far I really like what I'm seeing. It looks straight forward to use but still seems to have the options you might need and so far looks quick.

    Re: Convert mp4 to AVI

AVI is just a container and you can put anything in it. There should be tools to strip the audio and video out of the mp4 and just multiplex them into an AVI without having to re-encode and loose quality in the process. Should be really really quick too, measured in seconds rather than minutes.
