    Wierd BF2 graphics problem

Got a GTS 250 to play mainly BF2 demo and Pro Evo.

In BF2, it does this annoying thing where certain objects such as window ledges and pipes shimmer when you look around.

Anyone have any ideas what it could be? Not a big deal, but a little annoying when snipering and things keep distracting you.

So are you only having this issue with BF2, not other games? Try adjusting the ingame settings to see if it improves at all.

    Re: Wierd BF2 graphics problem

If you have replaced another card with this one then you may need to delete the graphics cache from your BF2 folders and let it rebuild when you next load a level. Don't have it installed just now so cant give you location of cache but have a google and it should turn up.

    Re: Wierd BF2 graphics problem

I had the same issue with an ATI 5970 - it turned also out the artifacts were generated when Catalyst AI was turned up to max. Of course you won't get that setting with an Nvidia card but there might be some sort of equivalent setting. Try turning off as many visual options as possible in the Nvidia control panel, ie disable AA and set as many options to 'performance' rather than 'quality' - the problem may disappear and you can then turn one option on after another and see what was causing the problem.
Consider uninstalling and reinstalling the graphics card drivers.

    Re: Wierd BF2 graphics problem

the shimmerings used to be driver related, the cache is in the bf2 folder in my docs, just rename the folder and try it.

    Re: Wierd BF2 graphics problem

I'd recommend uninstalling drivers and using ATI's driver remover utility to completely remove all settings.

Reinstall the latest CC and card drivers and leave at default and change only the settings in game.

*Just realised you said you have a GTS, try the same for the Nvidia control panel
