Audio through left channel only

I've reinstalled Windows onto my main desktop, and I can't get any audio through the left channel.

I've tried my speakers and the tele, both of them only have right channel. If I change the balance to put right to zero and left to full, I get no sound at all. Nothing hardware-related has changed, only software.

I've got no idea what to try next - any ideas? It's Azalia by the way, built into the motherboard.

Usual thing to start with would be messing with all the leads.

When you say you've tried your speakers and the tele, what kind of connection were you using for each? What programs have you tried playing sound from?

3.5mm for both, fiddled around with all the leads.

Chrome, windows sound tester, mediamonkey, everything else I can think of that makes noise

you've tried plugging the speakers into your television?
have you tried any other audio sources (mp3 player etc.) to confirm the speakers are functioning properly?

Tried setting the speaker alignment so its for both channels not just one?
