Re: Should i RMA this board?

Personally think its second hand mate, I'd phone them up and have a chat with them and tell thm about it. I've never had a board come to me in that condition and wouldn't expect to get one like that either to be fair.

Re: Should i RMA this board?

I have seen many used products sold by scan as new...funnily all of them were DOA too.

If you ask they will cover the postage though, but still it's quite pathetic that they didn't make an effort to stop something like this to happen.

yet again my post gets deleted as it has the word scan in it, go figure. if they didn't pay to have a forum section it would be fine, lets hide the truth again hexus, way to go...

Indeed, but I still want an explanation from Gonzo. He made a serious allegation there, and I want to know what it's all about. And if it relates to another thread, what the hell is it doing posted in this one, making it look like stuff in this thread has been deleted?

Okay, so to be clear, for the sake of anyone else reading this, Hexus hasn't deleted anything here?

As for anything negative about Scan being deleted, in their own sections, they moderate them themselves. It's not for Hexus to determine what they do or don't delete, because they're Scan forums, run by Scan according to Scan policy .... and as far as I know, they do delete stuff where it's outside the scope of that forum. For instance, as I understand it, support is about support, not a free-for-all. More than that I can't tell you because I haven't been in their forums for a very long time.

Outside of their forums, I'm not aware of any such deletions, and if there are, it can't be by Scan staff because they don't have the ability to do it.

And negative comment (in this context) should only be deleted by Hexus staff if it is such as to bordering on defamation.

If you have any other grievances about unfair deletions outside of Scan's forums, please report them to an admin before just accusing Hexus of some kind of cover-up, and we can review what was deleted, and whether it was justified.

Re: Should i RMA this board?

actaully the last scan related post that got deleted was about the same thing in the other thread, and it was outside the scan forums as i am banned from there for trying to get my money back

anyway, thats enough taking this thread OT, lets hope razor just sends it back.

    Not quite enough yet.

By "other thread", do you mean this thread?

Because if so, there's no deleted posts in there either. If there were, I could see them, and they'd be in the logs. There is a post of yours in there, though.

And, as you well know, you were removed from Scan forums for a lot more than just trying to get your money back. I'd think twice before dredging that up again if I were you.

Re: Should i RMA this board?

For a few simple facts i'm not going to be sending it back, call me stupid go on i know you all want to Anyway i decided to give this sticky residue a rub with a cotton bud, it came of with ease! not that i'm happy now it still shouldn't have been there. Either way after give it a somewhat pathetic clean up i built my system back up using the new msi board, to my hatred the damn thing didn't boot upon inital setup however! after a quick look at the board, i noticed i hadn't pushed in the 24 power pin in completely heartbreak over and the rig is running and now installing a 64bit OS.

As far as im concerned with all this it's a lesson lernt that i will raise with scan, see what they have to say for themselfs, why they sent me an open box product and why it had so much residue on it.

Let's hope they can solve this without me having to send it back

Although i should probs send the board back at the end of the day, it works doesn't look to used and does what i want it to so i'm partialy happy, i don't want to go through the hassle of sending it back and incure charges from postage/scan or whatever charges i get.

Re: Should i RMA this board?

    Mirroring what Saracen said really;

If you talk to Scan about this, they may take the board back in goodwill, maybe not - there simply isn’t any strong evidence to prove the board is used. Of course you can still send it back under the DSR but you’ll have to pay return postage costs. If the board develops a fault; Scan must replace or refund the board without any expense on your part, i.e. Scan pays for return postage so you shouldn’t worry about paying any costs while the board is in warranty.

By the way, you can get PCB cleaner in most electronic stores, Maplin’s PCB cleaner is reasonably priced.
