    BSOD just my luck :(

Yesterday some people would have noticed my thread about a new msi board, anyway i pulled my motherboard and basically rebuilt my system, nothing major and nothing that could have caused a problem right? well thats what i thought! for starters the system specs,

    core i5 750 STOCK
    msi p55-gd65
    4gb xms memory 1333
    500gb samsung spinpoint f3
    750watt zalman psu
    gtx 460 SSC STOCK
    sata dvd rw drive

To start, i removed any overclocks before having any problems, i did so as i was going to sell the board. I then pullled all parts of the rig out, after noticing the new msi board wasnt up to standards i rebuilt my pc.

Anyway the first thing i noticed with the rig is that it wouldnt start with a spare wireless USB mouse plugged in, this was the first thing that caused any issues odd i know but i put it down to the mouse not working correcty, i got it into windows, it installed the driver and the mouse wouldnt work...not sure why but i pulled this out and continued to use the system as normal. the first BSOD came when i opened a new tab in firefox and tried to load a video in the other tab, the only bit of the BSOD i caught before automatic restart was "memory management"

I changed settings so i could see the BSOD, Each time the BSOD was caused something but im unsure of its specifics, however firefox was open each time!

The next BSOD had "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" as the header, after this the same but with "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"

I googled and found it to be a possible driver related issue, this clicked that my nvidia driver (260.66) was consistently crashing after the rebuild, so i downloaded and reinstalled the most recent.

still getting teh BSOD, and still geting hangs, mouse lag and crash's

I've used samsungs hdd tester to see if that could find anything wrong with the hdd, but it passed with ease, so i ruled that out, i also ran memtest to rule the memory out, this was ran all night and the system did not crash once so i can only assume it is not my hardware but a software related issue right?

i'm now out of ideas, i have been trying hard to get this thing working and missed out on gaming last night which was a real bummer! so any help is appreciated

    thanks!

i had an issue before with a usb mouse, it's something to do with the system assigning the same id to more than 1 device i think, use a usb -> serial adapter maybe and see if that fixes the problem?

Check to make sure that you haven't caught a wire from anything under the motherboard. This happend to me on my old rig last year and basically it was shorting something out causing things not to work.

You may have to take it all apart and run it ghetto style and see if the problem persists, thats how is discovered it was shorting out.

Re: BSOD just my luck :(

For the record, Tangled is the BEST film i've seen from disney in a long time, onto my rig again though.

I've found it to be a driver issue! i noticed my rig kept asking me for a cert in each browser i opened...but forgot to mention this! it seems that the driver signiture is abit messed up on my pc, how this happened i dont know, maybe from a hard reboot.

Either way i decided to see if i could register my new msi board, it did so im going to take the plundge and install it back into my rig, im ticked off that it looks second hand and with the amount of residue on it but im going to take this as a warning to use ebuyer instead of scan, see how good they are compared to them. thanks for the help guys.

ebuyer have been great for me, if a product has a warranty and they stop selling it you get ALL your money back, scan on the other hand give a partial refund as you have used said item, i have lost a lot of money that way and never used them again for anything that i could not warranty direct with the manufacturer.

I would still return it and use ebuyer now you have learnt your lesson, ebuyer sell open box goods for a reduced price and you know its open box as the description says so, no underhand tactics, just good service.

Understand where your coming from there Gonzo, its very much a breach of Sales Of Goods Act if they are selling second hand kit as new and are indeed not labeling it up as such.
