Am I ok mixing RAM ?

I've got 2 sticks of 2gb RAM which I've just plugged into my PC.

All seems to be working fine and windows is showing 4gb RAM now an it seems stable to benchmarking tests.

The 2 sticks have different manufacturers and different stock timings... is this likely to lead to trouble ?? Or can I just "wing it"?

    here's the sandra info -

it's generally frowned upon - but as you've discovered - it can work OK.

if i'm mixing and matching - i don't care about the manufacturer, but if some sticks can run faster than others - say some are:

    4-4-4-12 333mhz

    and some are

    5-5-5-18 400mhz

i'll always err on the side of caution and run at 5-5-5-18 333mhz (lowest speed and slackest timing) to begin with and when i've done a lot of benching/gaming/testing slowly start increasing speeds and tightening up the timings wherever possible.

    Thanks,

I'll start slow and work my way up, if it become horrible I guess I'll just buy an matching stick of RAM

No reason why I wouldn't work. If you were planning to overclock, it could cause a few issues where one set isn't as resilient as the others, but even then it's not a big deal.

    I'm sure it'll be fine.

Re: Am I ok mixing RAM ?

Shouldn't become a problem if you stick with the Samsung timings for overclocking.....you may even find they overclock better than the Kingston so you'll be onto a winner!!
