unlocked 555 now win 7 locks up

Got new phenom 555 today and had ago unlocking with a biostar 780g which it failed to do so with acc, but looking via Google it told me my CPU was the right batch, anyways stuck it in my gigabytes m720-us3 and it unlocked to a b 55 but on opening Windows 7 it locks up as my programs are about to open. Well obviously this is a bad core but when I've reset my cmos back to a 555 it still locks up in same place HELP

sorted now needed new BIOS had to boot into safe mode got a fully working unlocked quad core

Got the same chip as you, mine unlocked without any issues at all

Mine doesn't unlock on Asus M4A78LT-M or Asrock N68c-s UCC.
Do you think I should try on higher spec board?

Wouldn't exactly call my board (Asus M4A87TD) high spec but am pretty pleased with it

No, I don't think it'll help. Update the bios and try to selectively relock one core and see if you can salvage a tri.

Tried unlocking to X3 and increasing voltage, still doesn't boot. Thought I would ask the question incase a board with a newer chip set might make a different

Mine didn't unlock with a biostar ta780g but managed to get a quad with my cheapo gigabyte m720 board with nvcc stock voltage but haven't tried clocking it yet has I'm waiting for hyper 212+ from play.Com 15 pound free delivery. The stock cooler is absolute pants :-)
what stepping is your 555 and what serial

I've previously stabilised bad unlocked cores with a little extra vCore. May be worth a try if you have some headroom.

My unlocked core gave up recently - jsut unstable, causing southbridge and northbridge issues. worth bearing in mind that these defective cores can go bad pretty quick.
