    Question POST getting stuck

So, I built a new PC with

    New Gigabyte GA-G31M-E2SL motherboard
    2X 1GB DDR2 sticks USED
    SATA NEW 160GB HDD
    IDE DVDRW
    C2D E6600
    ZALMAN Low Profile Heatsink
    Seasonic 500W PSU

I have noticed that on a Cold boot, the POST hangs after CHECKING MEMORY ... stage or CHECKING CONNECTED DRIVES... stage. If I switch off and then restart, everything is all good.

Anyone got any ideas? I have swapped the RAM with working sticks from another PC but same thing! The latest BIOS has been applied and Memory timings are set to AUTO and no OC'ing has been done.

    Re: POST getting stuck

Try booting with just one stick of memory. If that works then you probably need to adjust the memory voltages to what the RAM expects (it might want more than the default 1.8v)

Found the culprit - The PSU. PC wasn't switching off when I held the power button!
