    MSI mobo borked?

    Hi guys

Finally managed to get my new PC set up today, AMD 955 in an MSI 890GXM-G65 with an XFX 6950 1GB.

Got it all working, Windows installed no problem, had to restart it but upon the restart I couldn't log into Windows. I attempted the exact password over and over again but still no dice. It was only a one word password! I gave up on that so thought I'd reinstall Windows. Trying to get into the BIOS to make the DVD Drive the boot priority, nothing is coming up. I restart it and I get greeted with a beep (which had been occuring when the system did work), followed by 2 short beeps. I replaced the memory slots over and over again but the beeps still persisted. I've attempted to clear the CMOS countless times now, including taking the battery out for nearly half an hour but still there are beeps and the PC won't POST. Is my motherboard broken already after only having it working for under an hour?

If you need any other information just let me know. I appreciate any help as long as it's swift as this thing has taken me all week to try and configure only for this to come up and cause a pain in the a*rse.

    Cheers guys

Yeah, went for that Antec 650W Truepower. All the correct cables are in, I hadn't touched anything inside since it started to make the beeps. It was all the same as it was when Windows was running on it.

    Re: MSI mobo borked?

Have you tried relaxing the RAM timings and running the RAM at 1333MHZ??

What model of boot drive are you using BTW??

    Re: MSI mobo borked?

I haven't changed the RAM settings, and I can't access the BIOS at all. Like I said I hear 2 short beeps and the PC just sits there running.

For my boot drive I've got a 60GB Crucial RealSSD 6GB/s. I can't changed boot priority as I can't get into the BIOS.

I would remove all the drives and the graphics card and see if you can access the BIOS.

    Re: MSI mobo borked?

Thanks for that CAT, took out the gfx card and after some fiddling about with the BIOS I've got it to boot to Windows.

About this password thing, what's the best way around it? I remember exactly what I wrote but it's still saying its incorrect.

Check the Caps Lock and maybe the Num Lock.

    Re: MSI mobo borked?

Nah neither of those worked, I just did another fresh install and that seemed to fix it. Got my rig fully set up now, thanks again CAT for your help!
