BSOD storport.sys Nvidia 650i chipset prob

    Hi all,

I recently installed an Asus P5N32E sli Plus board to replace the Gigabyte EP54-UD3LR board (GFX card & aftermarket cooler obscuring 2 sata ports) so got a working Asus cheap, now I had initial probs just getting it to POST but I sorted that.

Now I was expecting windows (7 Ultimate x64) to throw a wobbler but not quite like it it has!

When I first tried to boot it up it got to the starting windows screen and then after a few seconds BSOD'd but went too fast for me to see the error so I thought sod it I'll do a clean install and it did exactly the same thing but this time I got a chance to see the error.

The message was something like irq less than equal and then had a reference to storport.sys, now after many hours of interweb searching it seems to be a common prob with Nvidia chipsets (not had this before despite installing win 7 on multiple Nvidia systems).

I have seen various work arounds like running less than 4gb when installing, then install the latest nforce drivers and then it will be fine but none of them have worked.

I have tried multiple dimms and all are known good & flashed the bios to the latest version and to be honest it's really bugging me now!

    my system spec is:

    Q6600
    8GB DDR2
    Asus P5N32E-sli Plus
60gb OCZ Vertex 2E OS drive
    2 x 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3's in Raid 0
Nvidia GTX 465 with aftermarket cooler
    Domino ALC cpu cooler
    Coolermaster 620W PSU

If anyone has any ideas how to get this working I'd be very very grateful!

    Regards

    Paul

If all memory slots are being used try putting a little extra juice through the ram.

i take it you have 4 sticks of ram,
if so add some extra volts to the NB (northbridge) this also controls your chipset
as running 4 sticks needs more power than 2
