Loud Cooler
The CPU cooler for my Phenom II X6 1090T gets really loud when playing games, up to 5000RPM!
The tep stay around 45 Degrees, just wandering how to keep it low as it becomes a real distraction :(
Its the Standard AMD one, is best bet to fit an after market heatsink and fan?
Ta!

Re: Loud Cooler
What setting is it using in the bios to change speeds?
I know on my one (intel cpu though) after a bios update it went full tilt and I had to manually
set it to voltage instead of auto which was working fine before the update. Assuming you have
the choice just try the different control settings, auto, voltage, pwm

Re: Loud Cooler
Considering the chips max temp is 62c, I really wouldn't want it any lower. If the fan bothers you upgrade to a aftermarket cooler,

Re: Loud Cooler
At around the £20 price point I'd be tempted by the coolermaster hyper plus 212.

Not sure if its still the best at this point but ive only ever heard good things about it. Someone with a tad more knowledge would be better suited to answer this one lol.

Re: Loud Cooler
Yes get a 120mm fan based cooler for low noise, a 92mm fan cooler will still get quite noisy under load.
The coolermaster hyper 212+ is very nice for a low cost cooler, so is the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 http://www.scan.co.uk/products/xigma...uad-core-ready
Or the corsair A50 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/226441 when it first came out it was overpriced but not it can be got for under £25 it's a good deal
There's plenty of other decent options under £30
TITAN TTC-NC15TZ, Gelid Tranquillo, Alpenfohn Groß Clockner, Akasa Freedom Tower and Nero V2, Inno3D iChill X5
Even the good old Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme (TRUE) can be got for under £30 (although you also need to get a fan for it which will push the cost over £30)
You can also look 2nd hand for something like a Scythe ninja 2, unless the heat pipes are damaged a cpu cooler doesn't break down or lose cooling ability, the fan is the only thing that would break.
