    ON/OFF mains switch/socket that can be controlled via shell/telnet/webui?

    Without getting into the whole home automation jumbo mumbo can anyone thing is such a switch/socket?

    Would be wicked...

    We make use of remote PDUs from www.minicom.com - not sure if that's likely to be overkill for you though.

    PDUs cost quite a bit. There are home automation kits though.

    As an alternative, Eaton (Used to be MGE) make many UPS with switched inputs, normally only serial or usb based however do have network ups versions. Its a useful alternative if you don't have a ups and would like one.
