    Re: Power supply question.

    Taken from http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-460-review/13

    Recommended Power Supply

Here is Guru3D's power supply recommendation:

    GeForce GTX 460

On your average system the card requires you to have a 450 to 500 Watt power supply unit.
    GeForce GTX 460 in SLI

A second card requires you to add another ~200 Watts. You need a 650 ~700 Watt power supply unit.
There are many good PSUs out there, please do have a look at our many PSU reviews as we have loads of recommended PSUs for you to check out in there. What would happen if your PSU can't cope with the load?:

    bad 3D performance
    crashing games
spontaneous reset or imminent shutdown of the PC
    freezing during gameplay
PSU overload can cause it to break down
If you had one SSD and 2 sticks of ram I would say go for it

If you have RIAd and 2 optical and 3 fans and 4 sticks of ram and cold cathode bells and whistles , I would upgrade

600w is more than enough, even with extras.

    Re: Power supply question.

the full system will be along the lines off

    i5 2500k
    4x2gb DDR3
    1 blu ray drive
    1 SSD
    1 Samsung F3 1tb
    GTX 460 768mb ( x 2 SLI)
    and one pci freeview card.

would my psu be fine or cutting it to close :S.

    Re: Power supply question.

That should be fine provided you're not overclocking the pants off the CPU, in which case you might be cutting it close.

    Re: Power supply question.

The best way to tell if your 600W will power all your kit is to use a PSU Calculator.

This will show you exactly what your PC uses at normal or high load. I still recommend reading the following guide to see if your current PSU will need replacing soon.
