I bought a new ASUS laptop from Comet 2 weeks ago.
It has been working fantastically up to now. But yesterday I was watching a DVD when it got about 3 quarters of the way through it totally froze up. I couldn't close the window by clicking the x so just ejected the DVD. I restarted the DVD no problem moved the slider upto the point in the film that I had got to and pressed the play button. It froze again at exactly the same point. I repeated the restart process but this time moved the slider beyond the freeze point. I played a few seconds then froze up. I repeated that process with the same results. Finally I restarted the DVD from the beginning, it played a few minutes then it froze.
I tried the same DVD on my old and new rig and our TV with no problems at all.
I was wondering if DVD drives are effected by heat build up or whether I just ended up with a dodgy drive.
