Doesn't the A7N8X lock them?
yeah ratio is at 1:1
well prime seems to be running fine on test 5 at the min all other 4 sections of 3 passed ok been running around 45 mins temp has stayed at 55 or 56 throughout
at the end of the day its only 10mhz lol on fsb i know some people would slash their wrist at the thought of losing out yeah i may even be able to push it to 197 but its not a great deal really
if this runs stable in prime would you suggest lowering the vcore voltage by a bit to try and slightly reduce remp you on msn piggy a lot easier to talk you seem to know your stuff i put this same thread on another popular forum with no response lol yeah bring on hexus
At work at the moment mate and no chance of MSN. Let me know your MSN id and i'll add you when i get home.
I don't know that much stuff  -i've just had that mobo/CPU combination & refuse to believe it wont do 200FSB.
also worth a try is the first test(small FFTs) as that won't test the RAM and should be more conclusive@200FSB
Another random thought - what BIOS version are you using?
only using first bios that came with it didnt have any probs so didnt need to change the bios well prime is still running temps still at 55-56 8 of the self tests passed now
thats generally good enough. If prime hasn't failed after an hour then thats stable enough.
What kind of cooling setup have you got (case fans etc) cos those temps seem a little high
i have the following
2x front normal fans intaking
1 aero blower on side of case outtake
1x aero blower on back outtake
aero lite 7 on cpu with the blower says is rated to xp3200 i only built this last week and wonder if i put enough paste on die also i used coolermaster paste maybe should have gone with artic silver
you say those temps are a little high that was only in prime normal at 48
are those temps that bad i should set back to normal fsb the cpu temp was still 45 then
i think a better fan might help
what do you think
You won't get a great amount better fan than that without spending £30+
The Aero7 lite aint bad. What thermal paste did you use?
I only get worried if my temps are above 50 idle so no need to worry yet.
I dont think its the ram / mobo - just the cpu doesnt like 2.2ghz yet.
If you have the cpu/fsb at speeds you are happy about now, then i guess it's time to try and bring the temps down a bit, so try lowering the voltage a notch and see if its still stable.
Also i would suggest making your side suck-hole into a blow-hole (!) Having cold air stream staight onto the mobo is very good at cooling. When i switched from 80mm side intake to 120mm slow side intake my case and cpu temps both dropped 8c.CAn you give that a try?
Also remember if your air temp inside the case is 45 then you cant cool ur cpu below that, so your aero may be doing the best job it can. What are your case temps like?
F
case temps are only 28
i will try the fan blowing on the case but have the aero blower atm so will have to pick one up from somewhere
ok managed to get it to 190 and seems stable ran prime for 4 hours no errors just alitle worried about temp and have some issues with the way my fans work on my case so im gonna sort that out before i attempt any more
how do i make the ram run at full 200 fsb when the cpu is at 190 seems to make itself 1:1
cheers
Can't remember what the BIOS settings were like in that mobo but it could be that you have to run a ratio - for example 5:6 which means the BUS speed is 166 and the RAM is 200
On an nForce2 system you get better performance running them both at the same speed (even if you aren't running your RAM at it's rated speed).
If you run CPU 190 & RAM 200 your performance will actually drop.
mine wont run 2.2 without voltage increase, but 2.1 on standard volts is fine.
ok bit of an update here
had a bit of a temp problem as you know so got 4 decent coolermaster fans noisy but doing the job temps are now idle at 44 this is clocked at the 190 fsb max temp with prime after 3 hours reahced 53 max
right i thought i would try and push a little more
current set up 190 fsb x 11=2080 ram in sync so running 190 cpu core at 1.75 and ram at 2.7
agp lock on auto i tried to set at 66 but prime wouldnt have it
i have just done this
200fsb ram=200 cpu core at 1.8 and ram volt at 2.8 booted up fine but prime failed it in like 2 minutes
had a couple of issues
something read 0.5 and should have been 0.4 and hardware failiure
i have a voltage mod in bios for graphics card it is running at 1.5 but is it safe to push it a little i dont know much in this area
what else do you guys think maybe bit more vcore
maybe chip just dosent like 200fsb or corsair value ram dosent like but it is 3200 so shouldnt be a prob
tbh this is just a bugbear now as i aint gonna cry over a ten raise in fsb its not exactley a super duper increase
but ya know what it is like the bugger aint gonna grind me down lol
