I'm sure you have all heard this one before, but it is actually driving me to distraction, so I would be extremely grateful for any help. Basically my mouse keeps freezing for a few seconds and sometimes it disconnects altogether (optical light goes off) and I have to plug out and in again. This seems to happan in little periods where it may not happen for days and then have a period of doing it non stop. I should also mention that I occasionally get a IRQ NOT LESS OR EQUAL BSoD, although that is a lot rarer. I have had a look through various forums and have tried the following, all which have been suggested at one place or another:
Checking that there is no conflict using Windows device manager (there isn't, according to DM)
Trying a different mouse (on my 4th now!)
Trying a different USB port (none of them make a difference)
Switching the RAM to a different socket (no difference)
Changing the screen resolution (ditto)
There doesn't seem to be any pattern with regards to either the mouse problems or the BSoD happening, and appears to be at randon times (i.e not when a particular program or application is open). Is there anything else that I should be trying? I assume the BSoD and mouse problem are related, but just don't know enough to sort it out.
Again, thanks for any help.
