    Mouse keeps freezing +/- BSoD

I'm sure you have all heard this one before, but it is actually driving me to distraction, so I would be extremely grateful for any help. Basically my mouse keeps freezing for a few seconds and sometimes it disconnects altogether (optical light goes off) and I have to plug out and in again. This seems to happan in little periods where it may not happen for days and then have a period of doing it non stop. I should also mention that I occasionally get a IRQ NOT LESS OR EQUAL BSoD, although that is a lot rarer. I have had a look through various forums and have tried the following, all which have been suggested at one place or another:

Checking that there is no conflict using Windows device manager (there isn't, according to DM)
Trying a different mouse (on my 4th now!)
Trying a different USB port (none of them make a difference)
Switching the RAM to a different socket (no difference)
    Changing the screen resolution (ditto)

There doesn't seem to be any pattern with regards to either the mouse problems or the BSoD happening, and appears to be at randon times (i.e not when a particular program or application is open). Is there anything else that I should be trying? I assume the BSoD and mouse problem are related, but just don't know enough to sort it out.

    Again, thanks for any help.

Re: Mouse keeps freezing +/- BSoD

Have you tried plugging the mouse into the PS2 port for the mouse?
Have a good look at the motherboard for burst or bulging caps.
Check the USB settings in the BIOS.

Edit: Is it the machine in your system profile?

    Hi Sputnik, thanks for replying

Yep tried that also, using the PS2 port makes no difference. Taken a look at the motherboard, everything seems fine and no problem with any caps, and yes it is the build in my profile, prob 2 years old now I think.

Don't think I've checked the USB settings though. What would I be looking to change there?

Re: Mouse keeps freezing +/- BSoD

I had a similar issue with my mouse 'lagging' when I was using the PC at random times and giving a few BSOD errors all of the IRQ_LESS_THAN error.

I replaced my dying tagan PSU and the issues stopped straight away.

Cheers Lee, thing is, it's only 2 years old and everything whirls and beeps as it should. Pc never gets hot as not into OC'ing or anything like that. I keep it dust free and what have you, so I'm stumped!

Check your BIOS powersaving settings, I had issues similar to this and it seemed to be caused my the BIOS/OS trying to power down the ports while they where in use.

Re: Mouse keeps freezing +/- BSoD

Just had a check on the BIOS settings and I don't seem to have a setting to power down the ports (or anything for that matter) when not being used.
