    ASU P8P67 incompatible with collers?

Hi peeps, I'm a new user in here but an old goat in PCs and system building

I'm having a small problem and am after some advice, many thanks in advance for any help offered.

I bought an ASUS P8P67, i2500K, 2x4Gb Corsair Vengence, and a Frio to refresh the heart of my old 775 build. The Frio didn't allow the memory to fit, and on closer inspection of the thermal gloop it didn't sit squarely on the CPU but sat on the capacitors along the VRM edge of the socket. I RMAd the Frio and got a Corsair H60.

The H60 also sits on the caps and doesn't seat on the CPU. The vendor wont allow the RMA as the supplied layer of gloop on the base of the H60 is no longer perfect, so I am RMAing the mobo instead.

Am I missing something here or doing something so remarkably stupid that my membership of this fine forum will be removed once my error is laid plain for all to see such that I wil not further embarrass myself?

Given that I am now keeping the H60 is there a P67 or Z68 mobo that the H60 is known to fit? I don't want to spend a fortune (hence the P8P67), and I don't need any of the functions that the Z68 provides over the P67.

Again many thanks for your help

The frio and h60 should fit fine.. are you mounting them 90 degrees away from how they're meant to fit or something? Also were you putting your ram in slots 2 and 4 (counting from the CPU) as listed in the manual?

Yep, no problem (not mine, just randomly found on the webs):

    Thanks Kalniel,

The H60 is no problem with the memory. I tried it both ways around with the mobo but it fouled the caps both times. I couldn't see an obvious cause but I'll refit and have another look. It's more likely that I'm doing something stupid

Re: ASU P8P67 incompatible with collers?

At a recent overclocking "event" I used a Frio cooled P8P67 board, so I know that they fit them....

    EDIT
The video confirms that, but doesn;t show the mountings.

Can you maybe help us with illustrations or photos of where things are fouling?

Re: ASU P8P67 incompatible with collers?

I must be doing something wrong. The problem with the Frio was that it fouled the heatsinks fitted to the Vengence ram, so that was never going to work. Hence I switch to the H60 as a guarantee that nothing will foul the ram. I probably wont geta chance to retry until the weekend, but I'll post some photos and let you know what I find.
    Thanks for your help.

Re: ASU P8P67 incompatible with collers?

I retried the H60 and it fitted fine and I finished the basic build on and off over the weekend. I have no idea what I got wrong. Thanks for your help though, without the confirmation that the H60 fits I would have stayed in a RMA loop for a while.
