    Fujitsu Esprimo Upgrade Options...

My brother owns a Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo P2430 and is planning on upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 (not sure why as he doesn't do much on it). Anyway we've already upgraded the RAM to 4GB of 800mhz DDR2 stuff and are now looking at possibly upgrading the CPU which is currenlty an AMD Athlon X2 4400+ (2.3Ghz). We have no idea what CPU's the board supports... All i know is it's an AM2+ board using a Geforce 7025/Nforce 630a chipset (model D2730).

Does anyone know where i can find a list of supported CPU's? I couldn't find much info on the manufacturers website.

Cheers! Now how did i miss all this info on their website?... All i could find were drivers and manuals

Well it looks like the 5600+ is the way to go, although i don't know if there will be a noticeable improvement. The motherboard in theory could support better CPU's if only Fujitsu Siemens would release a bios update as the last one is dated sometime in 2008. It's not likely to happen though.

So, will a 5600+ with 4GB of DDR2 RAM provide a smooth enough Windows 7 experience? All my bro does is surf the net, check emails, watch videos and listen to music. He's not much of a gamer but might play an old game occasionally (he's limited at the moment by the onboard Geforce 7025 GPU).

It won't make much difference upgrading the chip. You have basically hit the roof i.e. this is the most you will get from your hardware. For basic needs, your current setup is enough.

Perhaps, use a newer SATA drive or a SSD or just do a fresh reinstall ?
