Been offered a used Nvidia GTX285 1GB DDR3 for £75.. Is it worth it?
Also, would a 450w PSU run it ok?

No, its not worth it - IMO.
Second hand GTX460's can be had for that price which are generally more efficient, smaller, faster and support DX11.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
agreed, its worth £40, worth bugger all if you want to play any modern games

Thanks guys. Just doing some research. Apparently the GTX 285 is slightly faster then GTX 460. The only advantage GTX 460 has is DX11, which for me is not that important, as I don't play any new games.
Scan have the EVGA GTX 460 OC model for £114. Might buy this 285, resell it on ebay as they seem to be going for around £100 and then get the 460.

Make sure you get the 1gb model. The 768mb model is about a par with the 285, whereas the 1gb model starts to eek a bit more out....

I've got a Gainward GS 285 GTX and that's a pretty capable card. It's direct X 10 also, so it's not that old hat....
As for selling on ebay, don't forget those fees in your pricing evaluation... That would wipe out the price differential.
A 450 Watt PSU would be fine as long as it's got the 2x6 pin PCI-E cables. The molex ones work, but they're not widely recommended for long term use. The caveat here is that it's a decent 450W PSU and you're not powering a hex core behemoth overclocked to within an inch of its' life off the same PSU....? If it's the one in your sig, you should be ok...

yep agree that the 460 is the better bet
The Nvidia GeForce GTX 285 is a considerably high-speed single-GPU graphics card. However it has been facing serious competition from the ATI 5000 series. The GTX 285 was introduced by Nvidia as a single core alternative to the GTX 295 which is equipped with double graphics chip but i don't know what your requirements are????
why do people quote ebay prices........ ebay is BS and mainly people buying that have no idea what is worth what.
