XP cant see a drive..

In BIOS I can see the cd writer but in XP it only shows the DVD drive and no writer... what've I done wrong?

This is on a clean install of XP Pro...

Checked em and double checked em.

The two drives are just a swap into a new machine.

I've hooked em up just as they were before, DVD as master on end plug of ribbon cable, writer as slave on second plug.

Havent touched the jumpers, but checked em anyway.

Is ok, swapped the cables out... mustve been a dodgy one
