    herc 9800pro hs/f removal

the fan on my 9800pro died yesturday so i ordered a rev3 arctic cooler and its here now =) only problem i have now is removing the old one - its not as easy as with the other 9800s due to the none standard fan and copper h/sinks onthe back. Anyone got any info on how to remove the herc cooler? preferably a guide as i want to fit it when i get back from work tonite =)

    cheers for any help

I guess the push pins are below the copper slab on the back of the core. The normal push pins have a needle in the center which pulls out the top of the pushpin; then the pushpin can be prised out. I would assume the copper slab could be just gently worked loose. The back of the core only has a 1cm square area directly underneath the core free of surface mount components. If u dont want to risk it, just attach an large fan adhoc (with some of those plastic encased wires that come with all new things, very handy).

got it off in the end =) a pair of pliers revealed that the copper pins on the back unscrewed to reveal normal screwes. Gentle heating with a hairdryer worked the copper heatsink loose =)

now enjoying a nice cool radeon again =) plus i just got a cornerstone p1500 - the difference between it and my old 17" LG is simply amazing..that struggled to do 75hz @ 1024x768 while this does 1600x1200 @ 85
