Can't type password into Windows 7 Lock Screen

I've been having a few problems since my last install, and don't feel like something is quite right, I'll explain my problem in detail and you brilliant guys and girls out there can hopefully try and help me sort this

Whenever I lock my PC using [Windows Key] + [L], it all works fine, up until the point when I try to type my password in..

Because I have a P in my password somewhere, something keeps popping up while I try to enter the P. The best way I can describe what's popping up is, it's like the [ALT] + [Tab] screen that comes up in Windows 7, but with video output modes instead..

I can get around it by pressing the "switch user" button, and then clicking on my account and entering the password as normal, but that's a bit of a pain cos it seems to spend an awfully long time just showing a black screen and my screen icons keep moving about, something to do with the max res of the Windows Logon Screen as opposed to my desktop res, but that's normally fine anyway.

Does anyone know why this is happening? And more importantly, does anyone have a clue how to sort it?

I hope someone out there can help with this because it's getting a bit annoying.

Thank you in advance to anyone willing to offer any help and advice

Press Alt Gr and try again. Also I assume that you're logging in locally rather than over RDP? There's a well documented bug that is similar to this when logging in over RDP.

Do you have any macros programmed into your keyboard (assuming you have a keyboard that supports them)?

Yeah, I'm signing in locally every single time. I'll try the Alt Gr thing later once I'm home

I have a Sidewinder X4 keyboard, which supports macros, but I don't have any at all programmed in...

It looks very similar to that but it has different things as the options. I think it has different display modes listed though, such as "clone" etc.

I'm definitely not pressing CTRL + Windows Key + P on purpose, but maybe something is going wrong to make my computer think I am?
