Win2k drivers to work with XP

I have a home stereo that can be controlled from a computer, unfortunately drivers were only made for Windows 98, 2000 and ME.

Is there any way to get this to operate inside XP? The software will install but won't connect becasue of incorrect drivers, i could have a dual boot machine, but that seems like too much hassle when i just want to try the software.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

windows 2000 drivers will work fine in windows xp. if the drivers come with some kind of installer, look inside the folder - if you have a whole bunch of files, including a .inf, then you can load the drivers directly by right-clicking on my computer, manage, going to device manager & finding the device in question, and giving it the location of that .inf file as a driver location.

I tried that but no success, after reading some other peoples problems with this program it just looks like it is totally incompatible with XP.

Thank you doe your help though, much appreciated.

That's a pity - I've got various 2k drivers to work in XP in the past, mainly sound cards. Is it actually attempting to install or what?

The software installs fine, opens successfully but does not show the parts of the stereo as it should do. The stereo knows something is there as it recognises a new connect and allows you to name it, but the software does not.

I tried to manually install them but when i ask it to find the drivers from the particular location is says there are none, i tried to highlight the device, but two devices show up with the yellow things to say their not working. I found the .inf files but when i try to update the driver using them it simply says they are not right or similar (wish i'd written it down!).

Part of it breifly worked and allowed me to stream music from the pc to the stereo, but then i closed the application and it didnt do it again. Strange really, maybe it was just luck.

From the sounds of it there WILL be a way to get it working - but it might take a bit of hassle.
