Watercooled rig acting up
Hey guys,
I'm dumbfounded by this damn issue I've got, I've isolated it down to the motherboard, which has been working flawlessely for many years, till I upgraded the CPU to a q6600, since then it will not power up properly, it's almost as though there's a intermittent short circuit, I stripped everything down to the bare minimum and still it's doing the same thing. All the lights are in sync. What's the likelyhood reason this is happening? is the motherboard now a duff?
975XBX2 - Here's a short video of the problem, apologies for the poor camera quality, but you get the idea watching it. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help!

definitely not, in the vid it's just sitting without the clips, I did however made sure there was enough runny thermal paste on, also tried a diff cpu, still same issues. thx for the reply!
Re: Watercooled rig acting up
if all you did was a cpu swap and the old cpu has not sorted it then im guessing the board assuming you have already stripped the board bare and refitted everything.,
Re: Watercooled rig acting up
That's what I think too, but it's an odd sort of problem, I've never had this issue before, ever. It seems like a short circuit, but I can't find where, I've cleaned the board out with my compressor and still it's doing it. I don't want to chuck my board away /wah.
Re: Watercooled rig acting up
examine the cpu socket, sometimes a high res shot with a camera can show a bent pin or even a sunken pin, maybe a bit of paste got in there.
Re: Watercooled rig acting up
Thx, I'll give that a shot!
