6950 4 monitors problems.
So I have a 6950 (unlocked to 6970)
For a start, I had it connected to three monitors without any problems, it runs fine. :)
Monitor 1 - mDP to DP
Monitor 2 - HDMI TO HDMI (HDTV)
Monitor 3 - DVI to DVI
I now try to add a 4th monitor by a second mDP to DP cable and all I get is a black screen, but the PC detects the monitor, shows up in devices and everything, turning the monitor off makes everything go flash as the system adjusts to losing the monitor. Checking the monitor itself, it scans for connections but detects none.
Rebooting the system, the monitor shows the BIOS screen and even the Windows login screen, then it just goes black once it finally loads in.
So a lot of messing around, unplugging cables and everything.
Finally have it setup like this now.
Monitor 1 - mDP to DP
Monitor 2 - HDMI TO HDMI (HDTV)
Monitor 3 - DVI to DVI
Monitor 4 - mDP to DP
But the problem is that Monitor 4 is stuck at 1360x768@60Hz, any higher then this and the screen goes black.
Re: 6950 4 monitors problems.
Nevermind, found out the problem.
The 5m DP to DP cable is faulty or the signal degrades for it to display 1920x1200, only found out when I tested this other but shorter DP to DP cable. Full resolution kicked in then without trouble.
