dead DvD Reader?

Right when i rebuilt my pc in my new case, and turned it on, it didnt seem to be recognising my DvD drive [a 6month old samsung one, think its 16x]

none of its lights flash and it makes zero noise ;/ I have tried diff cables, power cables, psus, and all the jumper settings with the drive on its own and with another, all to no avail. Also tried in another PC with no luck

Any idea what could be wrong with it? I used it as an excuse to buy a dvd burner but still if i can make it work it would be nice

Me and dvd readers don't get on..... i've bought two so far that came out of the box broken. Sounds to me like you've exhausted all the options....so if you have a chance of returning it then i would..... good luck with that.......
