Feel free to send me a private message or post the story in this very thread. Maybe hearing about your computer misfortune will help me recover from my own!

Scan overclocked it for me and tested everything before sending the parts to me. It worked fine for two days. I have since reapplied the overclock. Do you think my system will break down again in two days?

    It's highly possible.

Seeing as it was overclocked and you "fixed" it by reseting BIOS.....then the overclock is culprit numero uno.

Regardless of what anyone tells you, no overclock is guaranteed to be stable....and in fact some can seem "stable" 99% of the time.

Its possible that the overclock caused something to go on the fritz, Is to a scan built system? I used to tweak and OC the nuts off everything, now I just cant be doing with the hassle...

Re: Now my system is dead...

I had a similar problem with an onboard ethernet controller. Just stopped working, although the machine booted normally. As there was a second port I used that - until one day the machine didn't boot after a power cut, but went to the BIOS set-up. Turned out the CMOS battery had diwed (only about two years old.

Upshot was that when the BIOS was reconfigured, the first ethernet port burst into life.

Clearing the BIOS paramters by removing and replacing the CMOS battery (with the machine disconnected from the mains sdupply) might be worth trying.

Re: Now my system is dead...

You guys are right. Had to reset the BIOS once again by jumping the CMOS as the problem reoccurred, despite the testing Scan did before sending it off. I can do without an overclocked CPU for now I suppose. Might even be better for it if it doesn't run at overclocked speeds all the time.

No wonder Scan doesn't charge for their professional overclocking then. If I didn't have my friends, I would have sent the system back thinking that it had gone to hell when the solution was ever so simple, albeit one I did not know at all.

I bought all the parts at Scan. The bundle included the motherboard, CPU, RAM, and CPU cooler. They included a "free" overclock as well.

See, my machine didn't work at all anymore. Well, everything worked, except I couldn't get an image on my screen or anything usable.
