    Any PSU genuis out there

    HI.
I have a nearly 3 year old FSP Everest 1010w psu which powers a Asus Rampage Formula, 8gig ram, x2 xfire ATI HD4870, on vista 64.
History, had to reformatt 2 weeks ago because out of the blue system files became corrupt, tried repair but woudln't have it. Since then got lastest patches, dx, net frames sp2 etc you know the score.
Problems didnt stop there, started having weired graphic issues, especially minutes after launching games, any game really, fifa12, BF3, would have to quit the game then windows would have graphic errors aswell, strange I would never get them just idling on net, but always after starting a game and wouldn't go till a reboot.
Decided to check bios, and had graphical glichtes there too! in the form of blocks all over the screen, so decided to take out both GFX's, and gave unit a good clean with air.
Since then the PC fails to boot, no fans running, all I get wis the mobo leds illuminating.
So did a full a stip down, still no success, even to just powering mobo with no ram, HD connected or CPU.
So thought I would check the psu, tried 2 things, first connected PSU to a second PC, that didn't start either.
Next step was to check voltages by shorting the Green and earth, fan on psu ran, did readings from, Red, Orange, Yellow and Blue connections and all within tollerence except for the Orange with run at 3.3VDC and tollerence of min vol 3.135VDC - Max vol 3.465VDC mine ran at 3.500 which is a minimal increase in voltage but saying that I'm no expert on voltages.
Do you think the PSU has had it?, weired I have a voltage reading from all powered connectors, but it wont start 2 PC's.
    Thanks.

Thanks for reply, but this doesn't account for a no boot on a bare motherboard, should at minimum get error beeps.

Got to agree with shaithis, getting graphical issues in the BIOS would point to the graphics card for sure. I see you have two HD4870's in your system; it may just be one of them so install them alone and carry out some tests.

But that was after you removed the gfx cards and fiddled about inside the case.....

Reading your initial post sounds to me like you knocked something while cleaning out the case, creating a new problem.

Re: Any PSU genuis out there

Sorted, was the PSU (since bare mainboard as mentioned didn't respond), as suspected, I have read else where a faulty/failing PSU can cause all the above problems, corruption of files, graphical glitches, especially in bios. Well there goes another month of trying to save some cash.
    Thanks for replies chaps.
