Hard to explain.. Will give it me best shot

Right... When I first power my pc I recently built all lights come on, then they go back off no longer than 3 seconds later, then me pc boots up like nothing has happened, it looks sound but IMO if someone asked me the same question I would suggest it as a fault I've never witnessed or heard of the problem before but any help would be much appreciated

not sure if this is the right section to post this kind of question if not lead me in right direction thanks....

Probably best to use this section.

    http://forums.hexus.net/help-quick-r...ech-headaches/

It would be best if you could put your full spec either in your profile or in the post.
Do you get any beeps or LEDs on the MoBo showing anything ?

Re: Hard to explain.. Will give it me best shot

Hi Some recent motherboards do this by default each time they are rebooted/switched on, it is a built in feature.

My last mb did this, and I had to Googleit to establish it wasn't my pc at fault!

    Maybe try the same?

    Hope this helps

Re: Hard to explain.. Will give it me best shot

A quick Google shows that this may be a known issue with that MoBo and SSD.
    http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&gs_nf...w=1008&bih=698
It may be worth unplugging the HDD, and reinstalling the latest BIOS to the MoBo, then reinstalling all drivers for the chipsets.

EDIT: Others seem to have resolved the problem by reverting all settings to stock in the BIOS. This does seem to be one of those annoying issues with no clear solution.

I'm going to go widly out on a limb here, but some years ago there were a few people posting problems with initial motherboard-like boot problems.
It turned out, for some of them, to be that the requirements of spinning the hard drives (people had 3 and 4 back then) was a big ask for the PSU, but that once they started spinning it drew less power hence working after a 1 second delay... or something like that.
I notice that you have an old HDD and an unbranded PSU - now admittedly 880W is stupidly high (seriously - 500W will be more than sufficient for you), but changing your PSU could be a good idea here.
I'm 'reaching' here, as I doubt this is really the issue, but thought i'd throw it in as a maybe.
I'm commenting on an internet forum. Your facts hold no sway over me.

Re: Hard to explain.. Will give it me best shot

Is the MemOK! light on? You could unfortunately be another victim of the Asus P8P67 and its hostility towards RAM.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

That's not been our experience. As long as you use 1.5V RAM it's very happy, 1.65V stuff is usually fine after a bit of tweaking or BIOS revision.

But just in case, what is the full code for the RAM?

I think this is actually just the Asus board/PSU combo - I even remember someone from Scan saying it was normal behaviour and nothing to be worried about. Updating BIOS would be my first solution, changing PSU, second.

I have an ASUS P8Z68 (Not the same mobo but from that family) motherboard and it does this at every single cold-boot.

It'll boot up for 2 or 3 seconds, with the GPU fan going at 1,000,000%, boot down, then reboot about a second later. It's always done it and I've never seen it as a problem.

Thanks dude an updated BIOS has solved the double boot

I know its not really that much of a problem but wouldn't you rather it just boot as normal ? id also recommend kalniel option of updating bios for you as well

I assumed that was normal to be honest, I thought it was just part of the boot process... But yes, the fan spinning up to max revs for a few seconds can be quite annoying, especially with my card having quite a loud fan at the high RPMs

I've just had a look for a new version to the BIOS and it seems one was released 2 days ago, will have to update I think. It doesn't mention anything about the way the system boots in the update log though. I only just updated it about 2 weeks ago as well.. Nice to know they're fixing issues and putting out updates pretty quickly
