Seating of Stock cooler on i5 2500k query

    Hi,

My first PC build and Im worried I havn't seated the cooler correctly.

I pushed it down according to the Asus mobo instructions but I didn't get any kind of reassuring snap just a sort of ratcheting feeling as they went down. I have pushed fairly hard expecting some form of snap but nothing.

I can see the white plastic part has passed through from the underside of the mobo with a black bit in the middle and it feels firm if I try and pull move it from above.

Am I being over anxious about it or should I take it off and try again?
Will it that muck up the insulation paste as I dont have any available?

    Cheers

It sounds to me like it's in place fine. As long as the catches from the pins have deployed on the bottom side of the motherboard, all should be firmly in place.

That i what I was thinking as its just a simple rawl plug system really isn't it.

I couldn't tell if they had splayed out enough with the low energy efficient lighting in my study last night and I didn't want to play about to much under the board in case I disturbed it.

I'll double check tonight before powering it up.
