Booting Problems

Ever since I put in a new hard drive and some more case fans, I've been having a strange problem booting up. The first time I try it, it will always fail and just display a black screen when it should start loading Windows, but resetting after this always lets me into Windows. Once it actually starts booting up its absolutely fine.

I'm going to try sticking my old hard drive in and see if that makes any difference sometime today or tomorrow. In the meantime, anybody got any ideas as to what could be the problem?

i had something like this, i went into the bios and it was trying to boot from my slave drive and just hanging there for a while with a black screen, i told it to boot from the other and it was fine. dunna if ita work for u

Tried sticking the old hard drive in, and still had the same problem (only booting up every other time). I have noticed that on the times it refuses to boot up, I get about three strange popping sounds from the speakers, don't know whether that helps at all.

Anybody got any ideas?

Power problem maybe?

as kez said could be power related ,could also be a loose ide cable or a bad 1

try clearing the cmos ,and check all cable connections

a list of your setup may help aswell
