    Laptop Reinstall

    Hi guys, my turn to ask for help today.......

    OK Since starting my private 'village pc repairman' evening job it's all been fairly standard, but the other day i got a laptop that needs XP reinstalling on it. The thing is the woman has thrown away any driver discs that came with the machine. so my question is

    what are the odds on XP having native drivers in for things like mobo / sound on a laptop?

    Anyone with laptop experience - help, tips and tricks welcome.

    cheers guys.

    Xp's good for drivers of stuff tbh, failing that www.driverguide.com always seems to turn up the goods...

    You Should Be Fine.

    As long as the laptop is not extremely brand new and cutting edge then it will use standard enuff stuff to at least allow you to build it and connect to a lan or the net in some way to download the rest of the drivers.

    Ive done this loadsa times and never gets probs - even for machines which i think i will have probs with - it all jsut works!

    When you work out what extra drivers she needs (if any,) maybe you should put them on a CD and put it in with the XP CD? Just in case she needs them in the future...

    Or will an ID 10 T error result in it being discarded?
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    You should be fine, even my Samsung that I thought would need the driver CD's was fine (ultra slim with docking station over IEEE 1394 (firewire??)).

    What make is the laptop - if it's something like a dell, the chances are that there's fairly good support out there anyway.
