windows 7 takes 20 minutes + to boot?

I rebooted windows 7 and it stayed on the boot screen for 20 minutes, in fact i dunno how long it took because i went to sleep , it could have been 1 hour. i rebooted it 2x times after it took 10 minutes, and then when i woke up it was in Desktop screen.

Why would it take 20 minutes to load and not tell me that it is checking something etc???

quad core q8200 gygabyte mb, it has been fine until now, it did take 20 minutes also once last month, but why doesnt it say it is checking disks?

my drive D is dissapearing for no reason since 3 days after a day of uptime, and i installed sweetim yesterday which changed some settings, but uninstalled it, some freeware sneeked it in with sime fonts out of view. it rebooted fine first time that a storage hdd dissapeared.

See your othet thread. Looks like your HDd has either a loose cable or is dying.
    (Backup your data anyway)

Re: windows 7 takes 20 minutes + to boot?

yeah, but windows should give a warning or a status when it takes too long to start up, i looked online, others have similar 20 minute boot times. perhaps i misplaced something when i was pulling the ethernet cable yesterday, if it happens again i will see if the hdd is still turning/warm.
