Cannot connect to internet via wired connection to router - wireless works fine.

I had to unplug my router (TP Link TL-WR1043ND) and my virgin modem.
Before I did, I had my main PC on a wired connection to the router. Wired and wireless worked fine.

After I plugged everything back in, I couldn't connect to the internet. Tried going directly from modem to pc, and this was fine. Plugged it into the router, and nothing.

Tried factory resets and reset everything up. I can now connect to the internet no problem via wireless, but not on the wired connection. As the connection works when directly between modem and pc, I know it's not the cable.

I also tried changing the firmware to dd-wrt but I'm having the same problem.

any ideas?

If wireless works flawlessly but none of the LAN ports work, I guess the 4 port switch inside has gone

Does the PC even acknowledge that it has been plugged into a switch/router? Or does it say that it's unplugged from the network?

The PC acknowledges that it's been plugged in, and before I unplugged it (I was just tidying up the cabling) it was working flawlessly. It says it's connected to the router(which to me suggests the ports are ok) and network, but cannot access the internet.

Which version of DD-WRT are you running?

I am starting to think that maybe it was working in the first instance but you never gave it time enough to sort the DHCP lease out with your ISP. When running a router + modem/bridged router, it can sometimes take a while (probably until the lease expires) before the router will be able to get another IP from your ISPs DHCP.

If the router isn't getting an IP from the ISP, neither wired or wireless will be able to access to internet.

You have then installed DD-WRT.....which IIRC, has a small issue on some versions with the LAN ports not working......some also do oddities until you have done the 30/30/30 reset.

Might be worth getting the latest brainslayer build for your router (there was one last month).
