    Synology HD conundrum

    Morning all,

First of all can the mods feel free to move this post to the correct forum if its not in the right one!

Wonder if anyone could shed some light on something thats puzzling me with regards to a Synology NAS purchase I am planning to make.

I am looking at a DS212j model basically for storage and streaming music etc to other PCs in the house. Its a 2 bay model and given the prices of HDs at the momet I figured I would buy one 2tb drive now and get another when need and cash allows.

A friend in IT recommends Western Digital drives over Seagate and so I was going to order a 2tb WD Caviar Green drive WD20EARX. Its listed as compatable on the Synology website and so all looks good until I discover the numerous posts about the LLC (Theres a whole forum for this issue http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewforum.php?f=124

According to one of the posts this problem was kind of addressed in a DSM update but just wondering if that was true or not.

Just wondered if anyone here is running the same setup and can share their experiences. The reason I am posting here is that these forums seem to be a little more active than the Synology one.

This would be my first foray into NAS and as such I will greatly appreciate any comments and input.

    Thanks for reading!

Is this a forum bug or did you do something wrong when moving the thread?

Right, I'm sorry OP, I don't know how that happened, I've asked the admins to take a peek see if its a bug or if I did it wrong.

In the meantime, could you repost the request please ?
