    Unable to update norton

Norton asks daily to run live update, but for a week now it has been refused connection to the server. I go to the symantec website today only to have my browsers connection refused as well.

So whats gone wrong? i cant update my virus definitions so cant check if theres a new virus on my PC . Have you guys got any ideas on what could have gone wrong so i can once again have a happy PC

    Ben

Your not running protowall by any chance are you?

If so then this usually blocks communication with Norton's update servers.

We had this on one of our work PC's.... Was a virus stopping it.

Have you tried donwlaoding the defs from www.sarc.com as opposed to www.symantec.com ??

Here's a direct link to the most recent updates - http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/downloa...23-007-i32.exe Just download and run the file.

If it still doesnt work I will upload the recent defs to my webspace tonight when I get home form work so you can get them in case it is a virus stopping access to those sites

Booted into safe mode and tried applying the updates?
I'd also suggest a Scan whilst in safe mode.
