    Warranty advice

My D-Link 4 Port Ethernet Router stopped working. Now normally the warranty is 12 months from the manufacturer which I thought was a minimum legal requirement. This is what D-Link have to say

"If a completed registration card is not received by an authoriized D-Link Service Office within 90 days then the warranty period shall be 90 days from the date of purchase."

    Can D-Link do this?

    Doubt it
"warranties and guarantees are in addition to your statutory rights under either the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) or the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 (as amended). If you have problems with goods or services, it is best to go back to the company from which you bought them, as the law considers them to be responsible for any problems under their contract with you."

"YOUR STATUTORY RIGHTS The Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) says that goods should be:

of a Satisfactory Quality, i.e. of a standard that a reasonable person would consider to be satisfactory - generally free from fault or defect, as well as being fit for their usual purpose, of a reasonable appearance and finish, safe and durable;"

90 days doesn't sound durable to me

"Note that if the fault happens within six months of you buying the goods, the trader has to prove that they were not faulty when you bought them."
