Can anyone help here? I tried making a boot sector on the flash drive, formatting to FAT, then copying over boot disk files but my laptop is just refusing to boot from it.
Is there another way to make a bootable usb flash disk, as I can't get a floppy for my laptop
First thing is to check that your laptop supports booting off a USB device.....
Yes... it does. It's also set in the bios as first boot removeable media
is it set to only look for USB floppy, cdrom or Harddrive if so a flash drive wont be classed in those bootable options
It can boot from a usb flash drive and is set to that - just wondering any other ways to make a good bootable flash disk to get into dos in xp
there is no bootable DOS in XP only a simplified version once your actually in XP

checked out bootdisk.com ?
I dont know if the setup files will work on a USB device, but as windows just see's it as a removable device, its worth a shot.
