On my Epox 8RDA3+ rev 1.1 I cant get a multi higher than 12.5, this is really limiting my oc :( I cant get the FSB up much faster than 200MHz eather :(
Limitation with the mobo or user error?
Ive upped the VDD volts to 2v and the CPU volts from 1.75 to 1.85 and it didnt help, Im sure the CPU will go higher so looks like the mobo is the limiting factor?
The multi prob is because the 8RDA3+ only has a 4-bit FID. To get higher multis you'll need to mod the chip to 13x or higher.
Is there any mobos out there that will let me use higher multis?
ABIT, DFI & Soltek nForce2 all have 5 part FID iirc.
Pretty sure Shuttle also use 5-bit FID on their nForce boards.

I think most boards out there allow a higher multiplier than that. My Leadtek board goes up to 20 AFAIK. You'd probably want an nForce II Ultra 400 based board. I can't change my multiplier though cos the CPU is locked, but my 2500+ runs at 12*200 anyways. Go for an Asus or Abit for solid build and good support.

Go for the Epox EP-8RDA3+ Socket A Motherboard. (Rev. 3.3) if you want lots and lots of additional features, although the Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe has just as many.
The Abit NF7-S is also a nice board but I don't think (unsure) it comes with firewire as standard.
Also, if you want onboard sound, go for a board with an MCP-T dolby digital decoder. The sound is great and accommodates 5.1 speakers.
Personally, I would go for the Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe, the motherboard even speaks to you.
Actually my Leadtek K7NCR18D PRO II Deluxe Limited is very nice, but the support is awful, but I have yet had no problems with it, and it uses a reliable three-stage power unit instead of the standard two-stage unit on most Abit's and Asus's's'ss :)

Cheers, not looking for loads of onboard features, just SATA, Ive used the NF7S v2 before and was very happy with it, just wondered if there was anything better out since my last Athlon XP days.
To be honest, not really, but I would personally choose between the Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe, and my current board. But the choice is yours :). I'm waiting for a while until I upgrade my computer next, gonna get a PCI-EX16 based board, probably the latest nForce 3 chipset (whatever it is then), with MCP2-T (or whatever it is then) sound and some DDR2, an Athlon 64 and a PCI-EX16 GPU. It's gonna be a while before I do all that though. :D
Just a note that there's a difference between supporting high multipliers and actually being able to use them on a low multiplier CPU. I've got boards here by Epox, MSI & Soltek that all support high multipliers but with a low multiplier CPU, the highest you can use is 12.5 because they only have a 4-bit FID.Quote:

k, so the nf7s v2 has a 5 bit FID and will allow 13+ multis?
