    Identifying my A7N8X-E board version

I'm having trouble identifying which version of the A7N8X-E I have. The numbers inbetween the PCI slots say 1.0x, but AIDA32 reports version 2.0. I'd like to believe the second number, but gut instinct tells me it's the first. I'll post a piccie later if it'll help.

Ruggerbugger - I have had exactly the same experience and have wondered what version I really had. I recently came across this website listing A7N8X bioses.

I have concluded that ASUS dropped back to ver 1.01 when releasing the new (new early in 2004) -E Deluxe board. Hope this helps.

I have exactly the same issue. Came with Bios 1009 which isn't on the Asus site. I remember reading somewhere that the E-deluxe is a Rev 2 board. Hope so.

That's the BIOS version I've got. I'll have a dig around the Asus website later on, although previous experience says it's not the most helpful. If I can get a photo of the area of the board I'll post it tonight.

alc2001, thanks for that link If I understand you correctly, there are different revision histories for the A7N8X and the A7N8X-e Deluxe? What a pain

By the way, after using this board for a year now, I can say it's a great buy for an XP system, especially as you can pick one up for around £50 now. The only problem I have is overclocking it, but I think that's probably my el-cheapo RAM. I also ran into a clearance issue with the capacitors around the CPU socket and my gargantuan Swiftech cooler, it has no extra room at all

It's obviously important that I know this in order to apply the right BIOS updates.

Ruggerbugger - I have successfully flashed my bios to 1013 without knowing. Downloaded from Asus website here.

There are v1 and v2 revisions of many nForce 2 mobos. Basically the v2s (including the earlier Asus and Abit boards) officially support a 400MHz FSB (nForce2 Ultra chipset) whereas earlier versions do not. The A7N8X-E boards are ALL based around the Ultra chipset though so AFAIK there's no V1 / V2 issue to consider (it only applies to earlier A7N8X boards - not the 'E' versions)...

Thanks malfunction, that was basically my understanding. I certainly have the 400MHz FSB. Why do these people do this?!
