    ==================================================================
Common Troubleshooting steps for ATI Multimedia Center issues:
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DVD image appears bright then dim:

If you are watching a DVD on your television and the picture appears BRIGHT and
then DIM, please refer to http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/3095.html .
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Install/Reinstall ATI Software:

Please ensure that you exit ALL applications prior to installing drivers
(including any Norton utilities, Anti Virus software, installation monitoring
applications, as well as remote access software).

Choose your ATI product from the link below:
    http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    AGP cards:

IMPORTANT: You will want to reinstall all the latest drivers for your
motherboard/chipset when installing new display drivers. . Be sure to install
the AGP chipset drivers in Normal mode (as opposed to Turbo mode) if the option
    is presented.

    More information at http://www.ati.com/support/faq/agpchipsetdrivers.html
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    For PCI cards:

Try moving the ATI display adapter to another PCI slot (be sure to shut down and
    UNPLUG the computer first).
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    System hangs or freezes:

This issue may be related to the allocation of resources, particularly IRQs.
You want to ensure that the ATI display adapter IS assigned and NOT sharing an
IRQ. Use the following webpage to check for possible IRQ sharing or
    configuration issues.

For Windows 98 and Windows ME users please see the following page:
    http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/...in98meirq.html

For Windows 2000 and Windows XP users please see the following page:
    http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/...in2kxpirq.html
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    BIOS Update:

Check for your motherboard manufacturer in the list below to see if a BIOS
update is available. BIOS updates often add support for new hardware that may be
    added to your system.

    http://www.ati.com/support/info/moth...facturers.html
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Recommended AGP BIOS Settings:

You may consider using the AGP related BIOS settings found on the following
webpage to help troubleshoot your issue.

This is true, I have a friend who develops game server browser software which had trouble with HT (although strangely he could fix it, where ATi haven't...this is a freeware browser as well!). the performance hit for turning it off is barely noticeable - check the hexus review.

My leadtek card has been fine, but lots of people have good things to say about the high end hauppage cards.

Out of interest does it benefit certain apps as Multi processor does, ie 3DS Max, Maya etc?
