    Angry Display prob

    Hiya,
Got a slight prob with this rig
    Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
    2400XP running at 2GHz
    2x 512MB Samsung DDR400
    9800 Pro

I dont get anything on the monitor whatsoever, ive tried just the board, cpu, memory, graphics card, and nothing.

I've tried a different motherboard, CPU, graphics card and monitor and still nothing.

Everything powers up, all the fans are spinning, and I'm not getting any beeps either.

    HELP!

"I've tried a different motherboard" Umm... Well then it cant be the mobo! all that leaves is the pro and the ram or the psu..

theres not many steps you can take when connecting just 4-5 items though mate...i've literally just installed the cpu, fan (connected it to the board), gfx card (hooked the psu upto that as well), tried two different sticks of memory in all available slots and thats about i think.

i'll get another PSU tomorrow though as i dont have another available at the mo, so will give that ago.

but if anyone can think of anything please lemme know.

    Is your monitor turned on?

You may not get beeps, but is there hard disk access. Does it look as if its booting the OS?

Are any of the pins bent in the CRT male plug of either of the monitors you've tried?

If your getting no beeps make sure your internal speaker is connected to your motherboard, usually its hidden at the front of the case.

God knows what your problem is mate, you've swapped and changed everything. Is your monitor plugged in?

To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

Sorry... But if you swaped evrything then all that leaves is user error..... Unless you managed to kill one of the components as you were swaping! You did try to boot with out the mouse and keyboard right?

Yep, monitor is plugged in, but its looking like it might be the board TBH.

Considering I'm not getting any beeps, and have tried two working CPUs, and in all fairness I was never sure the other board I tried was fully working or not either.

Im gonna try and get hold of another full set of components tomorrow so I'll have more info about what the hell is going on by then.

A quick uppdate on the whole story....I have managed to find the problem, it was the shoddy PSU all along

As I had mentioned the board and everything else was powering up but I wasnt getting anything else out of them.

I have since gone for an Antec PSU which is working a treat.
