Freezing
first things first, its a shuttle SN45G, original power supply, athlon 2500+, ati 9600se, and a seagate barracuda 80gig hdd.
It freezes. not often, and i cant find a linking factor with it when it does it, but at random intervals it just stops completly. the hdd activity light goes off, but the screen stays on what it was but nothings moving. basically, it just stops.
any ideas?

win XP? if so check the event viewer just to see if anything happens before the freeze
-
Does it stay stopped or does it start moving again after a bit? Try disabling everything running in the background and see if that makes a difference. Also is it all stock?
-
whats event viewer? its stock fsb now, had it oc'd but it made no differance, it doesnt do it often, jsut enough to be annoying. it stays frozen untill i hit the restart button :(
-
Check event viewer, right click my computer, click manage, under event viewer choose 'application' and/or 'system' and check the logs.
-
theres a few errors, i think they are at the same time as it happens, seems so
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
RapFile
RapNet
any ideas?
-
into rap at all :D
hmmm looks like it failed on the restart to load those so I guess theyre not the issue
-
im waiting for it to happen again. sods law, now that iv come to ask it hasnt done it for a few days
-
how long is the machine on before it happenns?
-
Sounds like a heat related problem....
-
it does it at random. definatly not heat, my comp runs 47-49 degrees all the time, never over 49. it still does it even if i have the fan on full constantly. it's done it 30 seconds after restarting, and its jsut been running for 2 days solid and not done it. cant work out whats going on
-
it just did it, and nothing special on the event viewer. im stumped, guess i'll have to just live with it
-
Format and reinstall Windows.
